Home Service Clothe & Shelter the Exposed

Clothe & Shelter the Exposed

Our statue of Jesus as described in the gospel of Matthew, "When I was naked, you clothed me." This statue is a huddled naked figure clutching a large piece of cardboard. He has holes in his hands and feet.

To get involved in any of these Christian Service ministries, contact Camille Graves Douglas at 313-883-2871.

St. Moses Clothes Closet: Volunteers secure, sort, and distribute donations for the closet which provides clean, new or gently used clothing and simple items to our neighbors in need. Closet operates Wednesdays from noon to 2 PM. Flexible hours.

Giving Tree: Sort all the Giving Tree donations by size and gender, and escort our guests during their selection process. Two selected weekdays during the week before Christmas.

Coats for Kids: Winter coats, hats, and gloves are gathered throughout the fall and distributed in the winter. Solicit donations and/or help with the distribution event.

Adopt a Family for Christmas: Go to this site to get involved.

Focus HOPE: The Focus Hope Project and St. Moses the Black have a long history of companionship.  To volunteer with Focus Hope, contact their office at 313-494-5500 or visit their website.

Saint Vincent DePaul: Our SVDP Conference addresses requests from our neighbors to secure shelter as best we can. Some volunteers are also trained to interview clients and submit requests on their behalf to the Michigan Emergency Assistance Program through special SVDP connections. Volunteers needed to transport furniture and appliances from donors to recipients. All are welcome to explore how you can help.
