The anointing of the sick is administered to bring spiritual and even physical strength during an illness, especially near the time of death. If you are infirm because of age or chronic serious illness, facing medical procedures, e.g. surgery, chemotherapy tests, or suffering severe mental or emotional stress you should be anointed. The illness should be of a serious nature but not necessarily life-threatening.
Anointing of the Sick is offered on the first Friday of each month at the 8:00 AM Mass at the Cathedral.
