Pitching In To Get the Job Done

August 21, 2019 by Fr. J.J. Mech

I had several occurrences last week that seemed like a message from the Holy Spirit.  The Lord is doing something pretty spectacular with us here at the Cathedral.  Four couples visiting from out of town who joined us last Sunday shared with me before they left that they loved their experience with us.  These visitors expressed how they appreciated our joy and hospitality.  On Monday of last week, a staff member also mentioned that he also loved the liturgy that we had celebrated the day before.  Thank you to all our regulars who are being so gracious to our guests!  You should pat yourself on the back for doing what the Lord is asking: being joyful missionary disciples!  We never know how the Lord will work through us! You are a huge resource in helping get the “job” done.  What matters is that we all pitch in together.

Our Operations Coordinator and I also met on Monday.  She has been going over our budget with a fine-tooth comb and helping each department understand what resources they have to get the “job” done.  She mentioned that only 25 people from our parish donated to the CSA (Catholic Services Appeal).  If you have not given yet, please do your part.  Even if you feel it is only small amount; that does not matter.  What matters is that we all pitch in together to get the “job” done.

Another thing that would help us get the “job” done would be for you to participate in our E-Giving.  We often have trouble here at the Cathedral trying to pay our bills.  Since our finances here are constantly lacking and unsteady, our team has to constantly rework the budget, cut costs to important ministries, and brainstorm about additional streams of funding.  This can sap the energy we’d rather use toward ministry. It would really help us if you signed up.  In other words, it insures Reliability.  E-Giving is far more reliable than non-electronic means of support. You have heard the phrase, “If my head wasn’t attached, I would forget it!” That has been me lately.  Knowing we can rely on funds would save us a lot of stress and you wouldn’t have to fumble with checks and cash every weekend. I really appreciate you signing up.  Please go to our DONATE page or call Donna to sign up.  THANK YOU for all you are doing to help get the “job” done!

God Bless,

Fr. J.J.
