Parish Updates

November 14, 2018 by Fr. J.J. Mech

CLUSTER NEWS: As we continue to pray and respond to our mission to Unleash the Gospel, the Archbishop has asked us to come up with something new and even more effective than the Parish Pastoral Council (PPC) vision of the 70s. For months now, the Cluster Leadership Team and a team of parishioners from both parishes have been creating a new way to move forward. Together we have re-imagined PPC into a Cluster Visioning Team (CVT). The CVT will meet 3 times a year to set goals for us all to address in a 3-4 month time period.  Four ‘Action Teams’ (Sunday Experience, Encounter, Grow, and Witness) will create and enact objectives for all of us to reach those goals.  The CVT will meet in January, May, and September to keep us on task and create new goals for us to address. Thank you to our dedicated reps from each parish who have worked so hard over the last six months and to all of you who nominated your parish members! This weekend at Mass, we are asking the Holy Spirit to select the individuals from our nominations (the leaders of St. Moses will be selected at St. Moses’ Mass and the BSC Parish leaders at the Cathedral Mass).  Please pray for the individuals who have accepted your nominations and who will begin the exciting work of being the founding members of the CVT.  We will keep you informed about the new leaders and the progress we are making. Please keep praying!

ADVENT TEA: December 8 at 11 AM! Ladies of St. Moses and Blessed Sacrament! (and any guests who want to come) can get ready for the celebration birth of Jesus.  Be formed, get into the spirit of the season, and eat!  You can host (and decorate a table for) up to 7 of your own guests. Important additional directions will be given to hostesses upon registration.  The number of tables is limited, so call soon!  Please call Marian at 313-883-2869.

MINISTRIES: Three weeks ago we filled the bulletin with all of our ministry opportunities and we need your commitments.  Please sign up and hand in the form so you can utilize your charisms and get involved.  Extra forms are available at the office or online here.

 BLESSED SACRAMENT NEWS:

  • Website: The website was down for over three weeks.  We not only addressed the problem, but are going to develop our own site on our own server which will allow us to address any problems more quickly.
  • The National Pastoral Musicians (NPM) St. Cecilia Sing happens today at 3:00 pm.  I invite you to hear the Cathedral resound with glorious singing! Ten choirs and ensembles from across the Archdiocese come together to present beautiful sacred music of varied styles and cultures. Together with the choirs, the audience is invited to join in singing hymns and antiphons for the feast of St. Cecilia, the patron of music.  Doors open 45 minutes before the concert. Free, secure parking is behind the Cathedral.

MOSES NEWS: Contracts have been signed for the sale of our St. Moses school. The AOD is working with us to make sure that the pantry continues to run effectively. Part of the follow up is that we will purchasing the Hostess parking lot next door.  When that happens, we will let you know. Also, repairs are continuing on the hall and the church.  I know this seems like it is taking forever, as most home improvement projects tend to do, but it is happening!

God bless you!
