Parish Pastoral Council Progress

February 28, 2018 by Fr. J.J. Mech

As you may already know, we have been paying attention to Unleash the Gospel, Amazing Parish, and the unique history and current needs of our Clustered Parishes in order to implement an even more effective Parish Council. Our Pastoral Leadership Team has consulted other parishes and met with several leaders from St. Moses and Blessed Sacrament to reset the vision and methodology of our parish council. This month, we will have a guest presenter (who is a pastor elsewhere) at our meeting to help us learn from his experience with a re-imagined council. This careful reconstruction phase should be ready to launch in September of 2018.

How YOU are needed now:

A Great Start: Thank you to those of you who came to our Unleash the Gospel training!  We loved how much joy was in the room. This document is the point from which our whole future is growing.  If you were unable to attend, or wish to delve deeper, please visit our website to find the document and a study guide.  There are also lots of little videos to watch that will help you absorb the content.  If you wish to lead small group discussion of Unleash the Gospel, call Marian Bart and she can help you get organized.

Event Planning: If you wish to lead or participate in an event that used to be run by Parish Council, please touch base with a staff member to determine the best course of action at this time.  You can pull a detailed Event Checklist off our website (under the ‘Parish’ tab), or call Marian Bart and she will happily get one to you.

Plus!  If you lead an established group and want your events to be placed on the parish calendar any time in the next year, please tell your hopes – in writing – to “your” staff member by Wednesday, March 14.  If you aren’t sure who that is, just call the front office for guidance.

Gift Discernment: The Called and Gifted Program for all our movers and shakers who haven’t yet participated in one is scheduled for April 21, so please mark your calendars now and plan to come.  It is an all-day event; exact timing will be announced soon.

Recognize How Much You Matter:  Jesus loves you, personally, BY NAME, and needs you to be involved in His work – for the good of the Kingdom and for your own good too. Please consider taking a small leap of faith in stepping up to lead a Bible Study, Men’s Group, Women’s Group, or <insert your own idea here>! We provide support, room, resource help, and advertising and you just take it one step at a time from there!  God is faithful and will provide for your needs.

And of Course: Please continue to pray for our parishes and we will continue to update you!

Our front office phone number is 313-865-6300.
