In his Pastoral letter, Archbishop Vigneron spoke of how the disciples prayerfully waited for God to send his Holy Spirit upon us in a New Pentecost to fill us with an unshakable inner conviction of the truth of the Gospel and a love that compels us to share the good news with those around us. Subsequently the AOD has joined together to form new groupings called “families of parishes.”
On Sunday, we held our First Family of Parishes Picnic. It was a glorious day. Truly a wonderful gathering. Parishioners and Clergy from the Cathedral of the Most Blessed Sacrament, Old St. Mary’s, St. Aloysius and Our Lady of the Rosary came together to get to know one another. We reunited with old friends and made many new friends. We were blessed with beautiful weather, met amazing people, enjoyed a good meal together, conversed, and played games. Just a little friendly competition.
We were honored to welcome the Detroit Police Department Special Response Team with their armored vehicle and equipment. The Parishioners of our family had an enjoyable afternoon interacting with the Officers who protect our city where our Parishes are located.
I look forward to working with our family on the goal to renew our parishes, so they become places where individuals and families encounter Jesus and grow as missionary disciples. Thank you to all the individuals for their hard work and dedication in making this event possible and to all those who attended. I look forward to many more Family of Parishes events!
God Bless,
Anna Romano
