Holiday Family Meals
Our food pantry serves an average of 30 families per week or 120 per month. During November and December, each family also receives special foodstuffs to enhance their holiday meals: turkeys, hams, or roasting chickens, stuffing mix and cranberry sauce, macaroni and cheese, mashed potatoes and gravy, cakes or pies. Specific donations towards this effort will be graciously received by any staff members at the office throughout the season. Thank you!
Once again, St. Moses will host Holiday Meals on Wheels on both Thanksgiving and Christmas mornings, and they need our help too! We meet at 7:30 in the St. Moses Parish Hall, and, in teams of at least 2 individuals, deliver a holiday meal to homebound seniors. We serve from 150 to 200 seniors in northwest Detroit. Our delivery routes average 10 clients and are strategically mapped. With enough teams we’re finished by noon.
In order to safeguard those we the serve the Detroit Area Agency on Aging acquires a background check on all volunteers 18 and over, very similar to the one secured through the AOD’s Protecting God’s Children program. See Odell Roberts for forms and details.
The Giving Tree is Up!
Our annual Giving Tree campaign is underway! Each year we gather gifts from parishioners to share with our neighboring families. This year we’re reaching out to about 125 children, ages newborn through 17. Please be generous!
