On Fathers’ Day, June 18, our relics of St. Joseph and St. Maximilian Kolbe will be available for veneration before and after the 11 AM Mass, beginning at 10:30 AM.
Since he is the foster father of our savior Jesus, St. Joseph is the most considered saint when we think of fatherhood. Quiet, humble, and obedient to the Lord, Joseph worked hard and protected his precious family. He is the patron saint of fathers. St. Joseph, pray for us!
- Feast Days of St. Joseph: March 19 & May 1 (St. Joseph the Worker)
Another great saint for fathers to befriend, though not a father himself, is St. Maximilian Kolbe, a Polish magazine publisher and priest with strong devotion to Our Lady and Our Lord. During WWII he was imprisoned in a concentration camp, where he ended up volunteering to take the place of a young father who had been sentenced to die because of the escape of a different man. Father Maximilian miraculously lived through 12 days of starvation before they injected him with carbolic acid. The man he replaced in Auschwitz was able to be present at his beatification ceremony at the Vatican. St. Maximilian Kolbe, pray for us!
