The Rescue Project
September 19 | 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm
This year, instead of presenting the Alpha Course in a formal way from the Cathedral Parish, we are going to tackle the new and lovely challenge of delving into The Rescue Project. The sessions will be on Monday evenings, beginning on September 19 and ending November 7. We are planning on the sessions being live, including supper – but we can switch to an online platform if we must.
The content of The Rescue Project is powerfully kerygmatic – that is: why we were made, how the world got messed up, how much God loves us, how God rescues us from our disastrous folly, and what glorious news that is for our own hearts and for all of humanity.
Episode titles are:
- The Importance of Stories
- Why Is There Something Rather Than Nothing?
- The Enemy is the Enemy
- It Gets Worse (Before It Gets Better)
- Why Did Jesus Come?
- What Difference Does It Make?
- What Does He Want From Me? – ½ day Saturday retreat
- Getting Clarity on the Mission
This ‘project’ will be the beginning of our Family’s OCIA (new name for RCIA), and at the same time is open to everyone who wants to attend – most especially folks from our own Family of Parishes. Helpers could ‘take a break’ when the project is done, or continue to help with OCIA.
If you are someone who wants to help with the new plan, I would love to hear from you. Please pray and discern in your heart what you may be able to commit to and let me know what you’d like to do; we can discuss it!
The following roles are open: Table Leaders (facilitate discussion); Clean-up Helpers; Decorators/set-up folks (Monday daytime); Prayer Warriors – soooo important! (can be done on zoom); and After Care: Bible Study or Discipleship Small Group Leaders (non-OCIA). Please note that we will have a zoom training session on August 29 at 7 PM for table leaders and prayer warriors.

Here is the registration for The Rescue Project participants:
Registration for anyone wanting to register for the full “school year” of OCIA is below. This is for folks who are curious about becoming Catholic or who know they want to receive the sacraments of baptism, first communion, and/or confirmation in the Catholic church. All are welcome to these sessions. If you register for OCIA, there is no need to fill out the simpler Rescue Project registration.
