Prayers for Peace: Mass and Exposition

October 27, 2023 | 8:00 am - 9:30 am

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
We have all watched with growing sadness the ongoing violence in the Holy Land—most especially the loss of so many innocent lives.
I call on the entire Archdiocese of Detroit—clergy, religious, laity, and all our parishes, schools, and apostolates—to unite with our Holy Father, Pope Francis, for a day of fasting, penance, and prayer for peace on Friday, October 27.
I also invite the faithful to join me for Mass at 12:15 p.m. on October 27 at St. Aloysius Church, followed by a Rosary for Peace. The church is located at 1234 Washington Blvd. in Detroit.
As a people of peace and justice, we implore the intercession of Our Blessed Mother, the Queen of Peace, in calling on Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace, to heal the wounded and hardened hearts driving this violence. We also ask Our Lord to offer consolation and healing to all victims and those in harm’s way.
Thank you, brothers and sisters, for your solidarity in praying for a peaceful resolution to this war and for peace throughout the world.
Sincerely yours in Christ,
The Most Reverend Allen H. Vigneron
Archbishop of Detroit
The Cathedral will celebrate this Mass for Peace at 8 AM followed by exposition. Benediction will be at 9:30 AM. All are welcome.
