ORGAN VESPERS
Featuring 3 of our Cathedral organists: Shari Fiore-Bloom, Mary Zelinski, and Horst Buchholz
Shari Fiore-Bloom has played at the Cathedral for many years for Archdiocesan events and is the Principal Organist for all weddings. Mary Zelinski just took a position as Associate Director of Music Ministry at the National Shrine of the Little Flower Basilica in Royal Oak and plays at the Cathedral on a regular basis for the masses for the shut-ins. Horst Buchholz is the Director of Sacred Music for the Cathedral and the Archdiocese of Detroit.
The program features music by J. S. Bach (Prelude & Fugue in B minor), Cesar Franck (Priere), Adam Guilian (Magnificat), and Leon Boellmann (Suite Gothique). You can also hear a piece for two organs and the U.S. premiere of Gereon Krahforst’s “Anima Christi” Fantasia.
The program is free and open to the public. A free-will offering will be taken to support the Cultural Series.
Free parking is in the lot behind the cathedral, off Trowbridge. Enter via the plaza walkway.
