Harvest Thanksgiving Mass

November 19, 2017 | 10:00 am

ALL ARE WELCOME!

TRADITIONAL NIGERIAN HARVEST THANKSGIVING MASS

In the Nigerian tradition, the gifts presented at the Mass will come from the community in thanks for the blessings God has given to each person or family during the year. Afterward, these items will be auctioned off and the proceeds donated to the parish.

All are encouraged to wear ethnic attire!

   What happens:

  • There is a regular collection during Mass.
  • The liturgical gifts (bread and wine) are brought to the altar.
  • Then, the Harvest Gift Procession begins.  Those who have physical items or money to offer dance to the altar (as coordinated by Marsha Irvin).
  • After Mass, youth help take the gifts downstairs for auction and everyone goes to the hall for a fun cultural experience, the auction, and refreshments!
