The Detroit Catholic Pastoral Alliance IT IS TIME TO GIVE OUR FAITHFUL YOUTH A PAT ON THE BACK!:is hosting the 8th Annual Parish Spirit Awards on March 2nd at Sacred Heart Church at 6:30pm. These awards are given to an individual who embodies the spirit of the parish. Fr. Greg keeps begging me to put his name down, but each time he begins to plead with me, I remind him that “It has to be a non-staff member!” Pray for him, he has been a little needy lately?!? Not to mention, this year the Urban Parish Spirit Award is going to go to a Young Person, i.e. aged 25 and younger.
While some parishes nominate folks by simply asking the pastor, parish secretary, or the parish council, I would like to ask you. As you think about all of the wonderful things that happen in our parish, which young person comes to mind? What individual, 25 years of age or younger in our parish has brought you closer to Christ our Lord through their dedication, volunteering, work ethic, faith, and/or evangelization efforts? This is your opportunity to affirm someone and allow them to know that they have truly served the Holy Spirit with the way they have lived their lives.
The DCPA needs the names pretty quickly, in order to have the awards engraved appropriately. They are also requesting a short biography (75 words or less) to be read and included in the night’s program. There are three ways in which you can nominate someone: 1) fill out the form and drop it in the collection basket: 2) fill out the form and send it to Christine Broses, 9844 Woodward Ave, Detroit, MI 48202; or 3) email Chris at broses.christine@aod.org All entries must be submitted by Monday February 1st.
God Bless,
Fr. J.J.
p.s. I know my dog Annie is awesome and under 25, but this award has to go to a human. I checked.
